Viacom-owned BET Networks has unveiled a host of new programming to tie in with Black History Month, to air on the BET and Centric channels.
BET will premiere original series The Family Crews and The Michael Vick Project, as well as a documentary entitled Ten9Eight.
The Michael Vick Project, produced by DuBose Entertainment, MV7 Productions and Category 5 Entertainment, will follow the professional football player as he journeys on the road to redemption in both his personal and professional lives. It premieres on February 2 at 22.00.
The Family Crews, meanwhile, debuts on February 21 at 21.00. The series offers a glimpse at the life and family of comedian Terry Crews, best known for comedy series Everybody Hates Chris.
In addition, BET will premiere documentary Ten9Eight at midnight on February 7. Directed by filmmaker Mary Mazzio, the documentary tells the stories of several inner city teens from Harlem and Compton as they compete in an annual business plan competition run by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship.
Elsewhere, BET's sister network Centric will launch original series Model City on February 18 at 20.00. The show promises to give viewers "an exclusive look at the highly competitive rollercoaster world of the male model of colour."
The series will venture into a small facet of the elite male model business, only 2% of which is made up of African American models.
